GensFE in Mamewah
« on: August 07, 2004, 04:41:06 am »
I'm struggling to get GensFE to be recognised in Mamewah. I have followed the screenshotarchives suggested CFG settings, but when I select Emulator 2 in the list, nothing happens. I have it pointing to the GensFE.exe file. I can get GensFE to play by simply double clicking the .exe file, but not from within Mamewah.

Also, there are a number of different suffixes for the games, depending on which version (US, World, etc) .. is this okay, or should I be changing them to one common ending?

Thx

TJ

So you have a list of games?

Is it when you hit start to play a game nothing happens?  If so check your Emulator Executable, and ROM Folder settings etc.  Also, make sure Show DOS Box is set to Yes (1 in the CFG file).

The suffixes are fine as they are :)

Are you sure you increased the maximum number of emulators to show in MAMEWAH? It's a config setting...

Thanks for the help! :)

No .. no games list, I go to the 'select emulator' part, and 1 is Mame (working fine). I flip down to 'Emulator 2' (haven't named it yet) ... press 1 and I just get the plain Mamewah screen (the one you get by default even before you add Mame).

However, when I simply double click the .exe for GensFE it's fine. I checked the path too in Mamewah.

The show dos box .. I don't think I did that part .. I'll go and check. Also, I didn't increase the max emulators setting .. shouldn't there be the ones showing by default?

Thanks again!

Tony

Just a few more questions ...

What do the 'wah' bits stand for in Minwah and Mamewah? Also, where do we make a donation? Seeing someone so active in supporting their product on the forums has to be worth a few quid of anyones money.

Launch Controls.dat Viewer before Game = True

Shouldn't make any difference but set this to False (unless you do have a CP viewer for Genesis).  The rest of your config looks fine, I think all you need to do is refresh the list (Games List Options > Refresh Games List).  Or maybe you selected a custom list with no games in it...try selecting the 'Main List'.

Dunno really!  For some reason Minwah is what my mates call me (I have a Mini)...MAMEWAH was a temporary title which stuck as I couldn't be bothered to think of something else :)

Aye! Halo I was having the dangdest old time with those custom lists while using the keyboard. I would go to hit 6 to flip emulators and accdentially hit 5. Then it was a cluster fart trying to get back because I started flipping this that and going back and forward.  Just make sure in the upper right hand corner it says your emulator = Gens and the upper left says Main List.

Also May I suggest this it happened when I was trying to get Atari 2600 working. I believe you unzip Sega files so change the ROM extensions to the end file extension of your roms.   (.gen) or something like that. That should get you working.

Ahh ... the mystery demystified :)

Okay  .. I tried refreshing the games list and I got a 'runtime error' and when I press return, it exits to windows and Mamewah disappears.

Should look like this

ROM Path = C:\Genesis\Roms
ROM Extension = gen
List Generation Method = 0

And make sure they are unzipped :) also you will not need the . before the file extension either :)

Thats great, thanks a lot! I changed them all to their native .bin and they're up and rolling fine. Onto VirtuaNES now .. I have the lists showing, and the 'game loading' box appears, then it just sits on the screen like that until I hit escape .. I think the screenshotarchive might have a suggested cfg file though, so I'm off to look.

I just can't wait for Daphne .. hahaha. ;)

Thanks again guys .. awesome.

Make sure that you have the Virtuanes from

www.screenshotarchive.com/download_emus.htm

The Virtuanes is the best and works great but also don't forget the settings listed per emulator here is where I got all mine.

http://www.screenshotarchive.com/mwhelp.htm

They even have examples of what your config should look like.

Good luck they even have one for daphine ;)

Woo ... they have a different one called "FCE Ultra" ...  that has a config file too. I might check that one out if I can't figure the VirtuaNES out.
