Bad review on Toshiba?
« on: August 06, 2004, 10:04:02 am »
I was searching for info on the tv of choice atm, and I found this bad review of the Toshiba 27A33.  I have only heard good things about this tv on the boards, but wanted to see if anyone had problems close to this reviewer?

Thanks!

I'm also VERY interested in what you guys have to say about this TV.  I went to Best Buy last nite to check it out and it seems the perfect solution for me.  I'm also hoping someone running this monitor will post comparison shots with it in S-video and Component mode.  I'd love to see the difference for my self.  Thanks to everyone on this forum.  You make this much easier!

I got this TV.  I've hardly used it, though I bout it at least half a year ago.  I bought it when I was originally purchasing all the parts for my cab and it's taken me a LONG time to build my cab (I get little time to work on it between full-time school and full-time work).

From what I have seen, it is the perfect solution.  It remembers the last state (i.e., you don't have to switch to Video Input every time you turn the TV on, and it powers on automatically after losing power, so you can hook it up to a Smartstrip power strip and make your whole cab turn on and off with one button.

It also has the smallest profile of any 27" TV I've ever seen (and I researched A LOT of TVs before buying this one) making it much easier to fit into a cab (it helps that there are not speakers mounted on the sides).  And it's inexpensive, to boot.

I can't really post comparison shots of Component vs. S-video, as I don't have component video-card right now (and since I'm using the Act-Labs TV light gun I have no intention of switching from S-Video).  That said, the S-Video picture is good.
