WG 25K7131
« on: August 05, 2004, 05:14:21 pm »
All,

First off, thanks to everyone so far...I again have to say, this place is just a fantastic place for all information regarding arcade/mame cabinets that I just am here like every hour reading up.

Now, that said... :)

I have in my cabinet a WG 25K7131.  Now, I can't seem to find any information on it (schematics, manual, etc), but that's not stopping me.  What *is* stopping me is the fact that some of the pots don't seem to do a darn bit of good.  I see many of the games not fitting properly on the screen (looks good until the bottom 1/8th to 1/2" of the screen, where it's squished).   No amount of POT movement seems to fix this.

Now, it could very well be a resolution issue within MAME, and I am looking into it.  It could also be an issue with the 20 year old caps (I think they're 20 years old...don't know if they've ever been replaced).

The question is this...knowing I have no soldering/desoldering skills whatsoever, if after playing with the resolutions, colors, etc. I find that a cap kit may fix my problem, do I try to find a cap kit for this monitor?  Would it be more cost effective for me to just buy a new 25" WG monitor?  The tube has a slight burn in from what I believe is Vendetta, and since labor on a cap kit install (if I could find it) could possibly cost more than the chassis itself, would it make sense?  I mean, I could always get a new chassis, but then for a few dollars more, I could just buy the whole refurb'd K7400...

Thoughts?  The config is Arcade VGA -> JPAC -> monitor and I still have some more manipulation to go through before I throw in the towel.

Thanks.

Ed

Your monitor is the same as a 25K7191 and uses the standard K7000 capkit from Zanen Electronics or Bob Roberts. It's likely that it does need a capkit for sure, but you may also need to adjust the white "50/60 hz" pot (behind the horiz hold control) next to the flyback.

Check out this website: www.jstookey.com/arcade/WG_25k7191/

Use the general k7000 series service manual you can download free at mikesarcade.com in conjunction with the 25k7191 schematic at the jstookey site.

Ken,

Thanks so much!  This is the 2nd question you've answered for me so far and it is appreciated.
