Mamewah w/ Neogeo and TG16
« on: August 02, 2004, 09:05:45 pm »
Have a couple questions I cannot seem to figure out myself, so asking here.

I'm using Mamewah, love it so far, have a couple of problems.. maybe someone has experienced, and can help.. couldn't find anything by searching for it.

First off, my NeoGeo games, aren't showing up on my list in Mamawah.  I do have the NeoGeo BIOS, I have the latest CatVer file.  My Romset and Mame versions are both .67.

I read something about enabling the NeoGeo bios, but I don't know where to do that at.

Second, in regards to the TG16, I'm running a registered version of Magic Engine.  When I load it by itself, it works fine.  When running from within Mamewah, it shows as a demo version, joystick doesn't work, etc..

Any help?

Thanks!!

The NeoGeo BIOS (or catver) won't affect games showing up in the list...what List Gen. Method are you using?

Not sure about the Magic Engine thing...sounds like maybe it is not reading a configuration file or something...without having it I have no idea what to suggest  :-\

Do you have your NeoGeo roms in a different folder to the rest?  If so, you'll need to use the 'Verifysets vs Listinfo (MAME)' List Gen. Method...

You might also have to use the "Dat file" method, if you turn your list into a dat file

type

mame.exe -listxml | xml2info > mame.dat (same dir as mame)

Go into MameWah:
1) Options -> Emulator Settings -> List Generation Settings -> List Generation Method -> ROM Folder vs DAT File
2) Options -> Game List Options -> Refresh Games List

Shouldn't need to in this case as he's using MAME v0.67.

I've tried all the listgen methods.. I even updated to the latest Mame version.  Still cannot see the NeoGeo games.

Everything is in a rom folder, everything seems to show but the NeoGeo games..

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

I take it you do have the NeoGeo roms??

Try the 'ROM Folder Only' List Gen. Method...all this does is a 'dir' of you roms folder - if they don't show up here then you must not have the roms...

I'll try that.  But I do have em, they show up and work fine in Mame32.

**update**
Ok, here's what I did.  I removed the cfg files for the emulator, then when I went back into the setup, I'm using the mamewah setup, btw, when I chose the mame.exe, and it tried to do the setup, I got an error that the list could not be generated.  So, I generated a list using the rom folder only, then re-chose the mame.exe file, then chose Rom Folder vs List info, and it works now.

I'm gtg, so thanks all!
