ArcadeVGA woes......
« on: August 01, 2004, 10:41:02 pm »
Running: WG 4903 monitor
               MameWah
                JPAC, arcadeVGA
               WindowXP Pro

Actually I have had all kinds trouble with the vertical hold.  I have tried everything I know.here's the problem:

I first had mame working ok except for vertical games. (rolled like crazy)
I used Arcadevga's software, fixed some of the problems.

Then started adding other emus (VirtuaNES,ZSNES, etc.) I can get one or two working then it will cause windows to roll. Fix windows and that causes mamewah to roll. I get MAME and MameWah working, start a SNES game and the game starts rolling.

How do I use MameWAHs Resolution Tool? I downloaded it and can't get the roms to show?

I have messed with the vertical hold, sprayed it with cleaner, etc....

Also, I can't get VirtuaNES to show full screen, whats up?

So, what I need to know:

1 What res. do I need to set inside windows? (under Display, settings)

2 What res. with the ArcadeVGA "Galaga Bug" icons to?

3 How do I get roms show/correct res. in MameWahs Res. Tool?

4 Get VirtuaNES to show full screen.

1) Whatever you like.  I use 640x480 interlaced for the desktop, I wouldn't use anything above that.  I run MAMEWAH at 368x240.

2) ?

3) I'm pretty sure there is a small how-to included with the prog ;)

4) Dunno.  Try FCEUltra instead (modified version at www.screenshotarchive.com)

Your rolling problem is the v-hold.  You need to find the sweet-spot, by VERY carefully adjusting the pot in each resolution that you use - you need to make tiny adjustments until there is no rolling in any res.

doesn't arcadevga handle 640x288 as its heighest non-interlaced resolution?  You can get windows to get into it... I use a 3rd party super small resolution changing program.. but I cna't remember the name (at work..)  quickres I think.

Yep, I use 640x480 for my desktop tho, purely for the extra real-estate...

Well, i tried to get the mamewah Res. tool working and still can't get a thing to show up.

- I show it the M.A.M.E. Exe. path, the Ini path and the ArcadeVGA.txt path and NOTHING!!!  It brings up the ArcadeVGA.txt list and that's it.What am I doing wrong? I try to "find a game" and it says it can't be found!!

Can someone help?

I think you just need to hit View > Generate Native Res. List.  It used to do this automatically until MAME removed -listinfo...

If that works, you need to use the Resolution Selection menu next...

I have no idea what I called it from memory, but there is an option in the File menu to set whether you use MAME v0.83 or later...make sure you have that set right or it won't work...then try Generating the list again...

Sorry I dunno then :(

Basically I just tried it from fresh (delete AMRT.CFG), and all I had to do was point to my MAME executable, and hit Generate Native Resolution List, and it worked (after a delay creating the list).
