Will Mamewah fix rolling problem...
« on: July 24, 2004, 07:56:58 pm »
I have completed my arcadecab and have windows xp running on the pc.  The arcade monitor is connected to a jpac, with an arcadevga card installed in the pc.  I'm using a slikstik control panel.  Most of my vertical games roll when I launch with with mame32.  The bottommost inch of the screen also "rolls" up onto itself.  I checked other threads and found that the rolling up can be fixed by adjusting the 50-60hz pot on the board, but the bigger problem is that I'm tired of adjusting the v-sync to stop the game from rolling, only to have my winXP desktop rolling when I exit out of it.  Is this a frequency and/or resolution problem? I don't seem to have too many problems with the horizontal games.  It seems from other posts that mamewah can fix this problem.  If this is so, how?  Do I have to manually set the resolution of each game, or will the program set it automatically?  I also noticed that there is a mamewah --> arcadevga utility.  Does this program do the job? Thanks for the help. ;D

Basically your monitor needs it's v-hold setting...you need to adjust the v-hold pot (VERY carefully) in each mode until you find the sweet spot (it will then not roll at all).  If you have an old monitor, you may need to use some electrical component cleaner on the v-hold pot.

Until you do this, you will always get rolling in one resolution or another...
