Toshiba 27A34 - auto-on after power off?

OK, I was going to use my kids TV for my arcade cabinet, and have deisgned it based on the measurements from their TV. But, it's an RCA and I don't want an RCA. Also, I think the TV menu pops up after a power outage, which would be horrendous for an arcade cabinet.

So, I see sofaking's post on the 27A33, and it sounds good, I check best buy, they have a 27A34 for $220 on sale right now. No 27A33 listed anywhere. Based on the model numbers, I would guess that the 27A34 is just the successor to the 27A33 and is probably exactly the same with one or another useless feature added on. But, what I need to know, is if it will turn back on to the same input source after it gets shutoff at the power supply (smartstrip).

Any ideas? the measurements are almost EXACTLY the same and will fit perfectly, so I'm thinking I might go ahead and get this one instead if it's highly recommended.

Not sure about the 27A34, but Target has the 27A33 in Orlando.

Haven't checked target since they're usually much more expensive, but online is the same thing, the 27A34 for $230 ($10 more expensive) but no 27A33.

Well, as I just mentioned in photorock's thread, I would go to Target and test this out (the auto-on feature).

I've looked at the TV on FutureShop's website and it LOOKS exactly the same, AND the models are almost identical so I'd guess they are nearly the same exact TV.  I'd still try to make sure first before building a cabinet around it...

I'd check SEARS.COM though.  They used to sell the 27A33 but I'm not sure if they still do.  It'd be worth checking...

They are probably the same TV.  Many times the big boxes (Target, Best Buy, etc.) will demand that a vendor make the same product with a slightly different model number so that they do not get called on their price guarantee.

It looks like this is the case here.

I just purchased the A34 which is just the 2004 model (A33 was 2003). They are identical and a great TV for the price. I found mine for 240 with tax @ Sears which has a ton of models, and actually Target had a sale on the A33 for 200.00 (of course after I bought it). Anyone that gets this tv with pc to component will tell you svideo is dead!

How exactly did you hook this TV from PC to component?  I'm looking at this TV as well and was going to go S-video...but would like to use the component option.  Did you use a dongle?

I just finally got it all working

Here's what I have

Ati Radeon 8500 (all in wonder but not needed)
DVI to Component dongle (found on ATI accessories page)
27A34.

I just updated the drivers for the ATI, and set the dongle to 480I (ONLY!, very important) and then just in system tray, change the screen to the one right under 480 (something like 432).

Also, please feel free to check out the thread I started on this TV and Dongle.  Ohh yea, DON"T EVEN THINK of using svideo. The Component looks so good, I'm never going back. Well worth the 40.00 for the dongle ! ! !

Any chance you could post pictures of your screen each in S-video and Component (using the dongle)?  I know Oscar has comparisons between Composite and S-video, but I can't find any comparisons between S and Component.

Also, how do you set your tv to 480i?  I thought this tv had a max resolution of 350...
