dreacast to arcade monitor revisted
« on: July 23, 2004, 01:23:51 pm »
Greets All,
I'm still trying to achieve arcade nirvana via a dreamcast connection to my monitor...I found an old trivia whiz which I plan to convert to a bartop jukebox but for now, its my testbed instead of fussing with the big cabinet.  My question is which wires do I connect on the monitor...here's what I got:

Two groups of connections:
Red
Green
Blue
Ground
+ V sync
+ H sync

and above that another set of pins:
Ground
- V Sync
- H Sync

now I've got 6 wires on my hacked vga wire:
red
blue
green
ground (5+wires all together (the cord that comes with ArcadeVga))
h-sync
v-sync

so long story short I have 6 wires and 9 possible connections what goes where...in regards to the syncs and grounds...also do i need to separate the ground wire as it comes from ArcadeVga breakaway cable?  IE those 5 or so wires bundled together, do they need to separated and attatched to certain ones?

as always, thanks in advance

First, you need to expose the ground wire from the hacked VGA cable.  Use a multimeter to check if the vga cable's Hor and Vert wires are + or - relative to that ground wire.  Then hook up the r,g,b,gnd as you'd expect, and the Hor and Vert to either the + set of inputs, or - set of inputs.
