ArcadeOS help
« on: July 12, 2004, 08:20:13 pm »
I am trying to setup arcadeOS. I have read other posts but they havent answered all my questions. I have all the games I like to play and they dont take up much space. (they consist of a handful of  MAME and a lot of NES games)I would like someone to create a simple boot floppy(that loads arcadeOS and nesicle from the CD rom drive.(if possible tell the system to save highscores/save data to the C drive)

I have set everything up but the roms folder. in the config file it asks for the locations of the roms (its in a folder called roms on the C: drive) so put in in C:\roms this still doesnt work! I have tried various other ways and they still say rom cant be found?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Put them in the ROMs folder in your Mame directory.

Unless you've changed that in your mame.(ini/cfg)

What version of Mame are you using?

Hey Peale, I'm trying to help out itsmejs, but I'm also having problems with ArcadeOS.  I'll state first of all I'm running a Windows XP Pro setup, but I can get ArcadeOS running fine by changing compatibility to Windows 95 in the config of the .exe.  So I located c:\emulators\mame   I have my roms in c:\emulators\mame\roms  I'm testing this with Mame v0.66 windows, it runs the roms from command prompt fine.  the beginning of my arcadeos.cfg looks like this:

#path for mame
mamepath=c:\emulators\mame\

#executable for mame
mameexe=mame.exe

#executable used to get game and clone list
infoexe=mame.exe

#configuration file used by mame executable
config=mame.cfg

   I still cannot get any of the roms to display in ArcadeOS, any suggestions?  I've been trying to double check everything, and I'm still seeing nothing.

edit: ok I turned filters off, and now I see all of the folders in my /mame/ directory along with the 2 roms I have in the /roms/ folder, any suggestions?

change the config to 'mame.ini' and make 'mame.ini' read-only.  Try that.

Unfortunately arcadeos is mainly set up for older versions of Mame.  Carlos Santillan is trying to fix that.

What version, specifically?

 .36 might be your best bet.
