I HAVE A ROBOCOP ARCADE WITH MONITOR PROBLEMS

Hello everyone,
I have a ROBOCOP arcade that when I turn it on the monitor works for about 8 to 10 minutes then it cuts off.
Is it the monitor thats gone bad?
The power supply?
or the transformer?....Help.

If the game plays "blind" (i.e. game play sounds continue, coins up, etc.) then your power supply and game board are ok and the monitor is the problem.

I just found out that by hitting the side of the machine the monitor goes back on but just temporary.
can their be something loose on the monitor?
This happened when I moved the machine the power supply came loose and one of the black wires came out,
the monitor wasn't working, I put it back and got a spark, I tried again now the monitor worked for a few moments.
now I got the on & off problem.
the wire that I connected was hooked to the transformer,can I have given it a short?

A short circuit would blow fuses. You may have a poor or corroded connection on the transformers terminals or connectors.

Hey. I used to have a street fighter 2 machine that would do something similiar when I moved it around. The way I fixed it was to disconnect the main board and then reconnected it. It used to work for me. It's worth a shot.

After carefully checking the arcade monitor board I noticed a busted capacitor (see pic below).
Is their a way to repair this or do I need a new monitor.

Isn't that just the anti-vibration glue or is that cap actually split open?

That just looks like the normal black silicon used to stop vibrations as you said Ken.

I can gauruntee that the problem with this chassis is like just about every one of those early Wells Gardners I have repaired , Bad or cracked joints.
Look at all the solder joints under the flyback and also there are a few big gray resistors they are prone to cracked solder joints.
No you dont need a new monitor just a soldering iron for this one

O.k I'll check it, but anther problem I noticed is the cabinet heats up real high even the new coin slot bulbs burnt out.
the light on the marquee feels like a space heater, this can't be normal cause I have other arcades and they are cool to the touch.
I'm afraid this arcade is going to overheat and cause a fire....help.

As to your other problems, measure the voltage on the coin door light sockets. Could it be that someone has put the wrong voltage bulbs in? Same goes for your marquee lights.

BTW, your picture shows that you have a Wells-Gardner k7000 series monitor.

I don't have nothing to check the voltage.
is their something wrong with the WELLS GARDNER K7000?
I know that alot of people had a load of trouble with the d9200.

The 7000 was a great little chassis , in many cases still going strong after later model have bit the dust .
