Alright, I've just started my CAB, WOOHOO, and I've started designing a CPO. It's not done yet, as I am still looking for a good background. I was actually looking for a star scape or space background. But I'm having a hard time finding one that will fit my HUGE CP. Was wondering if anyone had some ideas/suggestions on my design. By the way the capcom images were dwnloaded off cp-system2.com. GREAT SITE! Love the artwork! The center area is going to house a 3" happ trackball. And the misc. button in the top area as well as the player start buttons.

really nice CPO, i dont really like the button spacing though i play a lot of capcom fighters and i like them to be in a straight line. what made you pick the curved layout

 ;D Thank You! Well, it's kinda weird how I picked the curved design. If you were to imagine a joystick DIRECTLY in front of you, your two arms and chest would form a triangle. I noticed also that my hands were most comfortable in that position, and that it too was angled inwards. With straight buttons, right in front of you, you would have to twist your hand to the right to get you index, middle, and ring finger to sit on the 3 top buttons. The way my buttons are set you can keep your hand in a most comfortable position and have all 3 of those fingers resting on the buttons. This seemed like the ergonomic choice. After building a mock cp, all of my MvC and SF playin friends agreed. Phew......that was long winded.

I like the curved layout, but it seems like you have to twist your elbow out to get your hand rotated to get the angle the buttons are in. I'd personally shift the buttons to the right, up and rotate them a bit clockwise.

The graphics are nice yes. Maybe you can also use some scaled up versions of the Capcom graphics as the background?

Nice panel. You really don't see many 4 player examples and I need ideas for mine. It should look great once a good background is dropped in.

Here is an update on the CPO. I still am not set on the backround. I am still playing with it. Now, though, I am wondering if the 60 degree angles that the two outside players are situated at is too much....hmmmmm. Comments? Although, they are pretty far back so it shouldn't be that bad. Please let me know! i am also planning on covering the entire outline of the CP with logos like the ones on there now. I hope it looks good.

I have read that it's common for the two outside players to have an alignment parallel to the front of the cab too (like player 1 and 2). When they play the will be facing the monitor too. They won't stand at an angle to the monitor. So in effect in the current configuration their controls will appear rotated for them.

Are there even 7 (or6) button 4-player games? Wasn't 4 buttons the highest number of buttons for player 3 and 4?

If you do a search (on the main forum) you should be able to find some threads discussing both issues.

 ;D Front alignment would be cool, but to fit 4 adults comfotably I would need a bigger cp. It already 58" at it's widest! Actually with som eof the other emulators I will be running, such as chankast and snes I may need more than 4 buttons. I'm still plyin with it though. Might still consider a more linear player layout...

Consider minor changes.Either color either ryu's outfit dark blue to match the buttons box thing or make that box white since everything else is matching with the character's outfit(s).
And get rid of the capcom,sega,namco,etc logo around the border(it will be a lot better without em)  :)

Nice design, I really like it.

I do have to agree with SNAAAKE's comments -- I would remove the company names from the borders of the control panel.  It will give a much cleaner look without them.  And if Ryu could be blue, that would be great.  All the other characters match their respective color, so it would be nice for that to match as well.  But if you cant find a good picture that "fits" just use what you currently have.

And whats the Silent Reverie and small text at the bottom?  Little image credits and disclaimers?  I'd crop/edit those out if possible...

I think the 60 degrees is too much. I went with 45 degrees for players 3 and 4 in my showcase style panel.  Everyone that plays 3 and 4 do stand at 45 degrees and they had no problems figuring out which way is up.

Only comment would be to REMOVE the button labels. Make a tiny card/insert to go on the bezel stating what the buttons are, but personally, I can't stand when buttons are labeled unless it's a dedicated cab (mortal kombat, kick punch block, etc)

Do you mean the buttons on the top, Esc tab etc? Actually, I got illuminated pushbuttons from happ. I think that there is an insert that can be placed in them, Good suggestion. It would make the artwork a bit cleaner. I am starting to cutout the cabinet tomorrow. I will make final adjustmens to the artwork when I have got it started for final fitting etc. I will post a final pic of it when it's ready. Also, I am thinking of changing ryu to Akuma to match the blue layout. Maybe even cyclops. Oh, the decisions........

Maybe it's just me but I think wolverine and the hulk (although not as much as wolverine) look kind of goofy sitting sideways like that, I think they should point more towards the screen with the direction of 'up' on the joystick. Just rotate them a bit so that their head is more towards the screen..

 :P Yeah I am probably gonna change it to 45 degrees and then they won't be angled as much. I am gonna change it tomorrow as I have an ad I have to finish creating tonight for a company. I will post the update with some mods I already have made and get some comments. Muahahahahahah this is gonna ROCk......I hope 8)

They are staring at the a$$es of player 1 and 2 too aggressevily...good idea to change it. :o :-X

I like this design alot, going to use a few ideas for my layout, thanks!

Its probably a little late... but...

If you rotate slightly the far left and far right... You will be able to use the joysticks is 2player dual  8ways... even though you will have to change the controls to use the diagonals for main directions..  

might be worth a quick rotate and see if it would work for you.
