Degausing Monitor help please!!!
« on: July 11, 2004, 10:02:43 pm »
Hi guys,

I have a problem with my Arcade monitor.

My picture has a red tinge around the top left corner and some red tinges on the right of the screen. I can hit the degause button and sometimes the red tinge changes position but its 99% of the time always there.

Its not my speakers as they are shielded and I have taken them away to trial and error.

I tried to do a manual degause using a magnet in the circular motion moving away from the cab but as it gets rid of the tinge when it passes in that area it comes right back after the magnet is moved away.

I have since noticed that if I leave the magnet on the monitor bracket just above the monitor all red tinge disappears and the screen is perfect.

My questions is will this damage the monitor keeping it here all the time ?

What can I do to get rid of this red tinge ?

Thanks.

Use a manual degaussing coil available from Bob Roberts.

Hi Ken,

Thats the option I think is the best, but to keep the magnet on the bracket will this harm the monitor long term ?

If you leave the magnet on it will magnetize the picture tube and no amount of degaussing would help it then.
