« on: July 09, 2004, 09:25:09 pm »
Has anyone set this up?  I cannot figure out how to do it.  I have my roms in defferent folders, would like to assign the different folders to different lists from the menu in ArcadeOS - Help?!

It's possible with older versions of Mame, but there's no support for the newer versions, without jumping thru hoops.

In the arcadeos.cfg file there's a line for mame config file.  Likely it's 'mame.cfg.'  This changed somewhere along the line to 'mame.ini.'  The trick here is if you make any changes to the Mame default within ArcadeOS, it'll update the 'mame.ini' file you specify above.  And if that happens, Mame won't run at all.

It used to be that Mame used 'yes/no' options instead of '1/0' like it does now.  So if Mame encounters this in 'mame.ini' it pukes.

You may be able to get away with it by making the edits to 'mame.ini' manually, then setting it to read-only.

Right now Carlos Santillan is searching the code to see if legacy support is possilble, and what version of Mame started with the '0/1' and 'mame.ini.'

I can assign roms to custom views so I should be able to at least edit the (txt, ini, ???) file in arcados that keeps a record of the roms assigned to the custom views no?  I would not be able to use the seperate folders, but my real goal is to make the lists in arcadeos a bit more manageable.

Speaking of which...

Is there a "page-up / down" key in arcadeos?

scrolling through a couple hundred roms really blows.

Hi,
As far as I can tell the first version of MAME that used the mame.ini is mame37b15 (which is also the first version of console window version of mame). Proior to that mame used .cfg files

I've been using AdvanceMame 0.66 with ArcadeOS in a couple of cabs, and it uses the old cfg files, so works with multiple rom folders no problem.
