Can you ID this monitor.

I just picked up a Neogeo Candy cab with 27" monitor.. (The cab specs say 29" but the tube has a 27 in the part number)

Anyway, the monitor tries to power up, you get maybe 2 seconds of high voltage then it shuts down.

I can't find any ID for the monitor and the frame or chassis.

Any suggestions?

Boy, that's one I have not seen before. Looks to probably have some bad caps in the switch power supply section.

Ken, what makes you think that it has bad caps in the powersupply section? Something on the pic or the symptoms? (Visual inspection of the caps show nothing. i.e. none are bulging.)

Also the only other unique thing about this monitor is it actually interfaces with the cab power supply by having a external degauss button that is mounted as part of the power supply.

Finally figured out how to remove the bezel, the monitor is a Hitachi GMK-29FS3

Symptoms are what makes me think of power supply caps. When one or more of the small electrolytic caps in the switching regulator power supply section of the monitor go bad or change value it causes startup or shutdown problems.

As an example, Merit Industries used Ducksan monitors in their Megatouch countertop games in taverns. Those Ducksan monitors had problems with a single particular 1 uf @ 50 volt cap in the power supply going bad. The power supply would try to startup and you'd get high voltage for maybe 2 seconds then nothing. Turns out the heat generated in the cabinet was drying out the cap real fast and causing it's value to drop considerably in value. The cure was to change it to 10 uf @ 100 volts.  If you have a capacitor tester there's probably a bad cap in that monitor of yours.

7 dollars, 6 caps (I don't have a cap tester so I replaced all the little caps in the powersupply section), and a little time with the iron, and the monitor powers on fine..

I'll have to toss it back in the cab later to check the pic, but I do have raster.
