HELP ON 3dARCADE!!
« on: August 15, 2002, 04:49:17 pm »
I just want to say, this FE looks very nice, and it is quite evident that alot of work has gone into it.  I have a problem with it though.

I have read the intro by Stephen, the information at 3darcade, and most of the config files.  I believe I have it mostly set up properly.  I am only able to get the Cyclarde to run after downloading and running Realone media player.  But this only works once.    When the FE executes, I see approximately 6 cabinets, the snaps are present, unfortunately they show both on the screens and at the marquees, eventhough I have doubly made sure the femame.cfg points in the right spot.

The big issue is after I exit out after the first running I get an S3MICD.dll error every subsequent time I try and run the emulator.  If I uninstall Realone, and reinstall it, it will run again only once though.  Any help would greatly be appreciated.

First....I would get RealPlayer 8.  I had RealOne and it did not work well with fe3d.  I am not sure if this will stop the errors or not...

Make sure your marquees are not in zips.....it will not find them if they are.  I had to extract my snaps and my marquees.

Also, make sure you have the last "\" after your path....I left this off some things and it took a while to notice it

Oh, the memories of living on pizza subs and Dr Pepper...

ok don't use real one but real player 8 as mentioned in the docs. but that is probably not the problerm here. It looks like your vidcard, a s3 savage? , does not like the open gl renderer that is used by default. Try a different renderer, by setting the prefrender option in fe.cfg for example to directx7_0.
about the first issue..i presume you mean that you see the screenshot also on the marquee with the name over it. If so double check the marquee path in your femame.cfg

Peter

update: hehe mrarcade I did not see your response Ipresume we replied at almost the same time  ;D

Thanks guys that did the trick:

It was the rendering issue, as I download RP8 just after posting, and it didn't help.  Now that I use directx I'm up and running.

As for the marquees, it was something simple as I expected.  I was using JPGs instead of PNGs (duh).  Thanks for the great support and for the great FE.

:)
Actually just renaming your jpg files to png would have worked... In principle the fe can load a lot of diffrent graphic formats it is just that the older parts of the fe always add a ".png"  ;)
