re-mapping controls in Visual Pinball/Pinmame
« on: July 06, 2004, 06:24:28 pm »
Hi,

I did a search but didn't come up with anything on this particular subject.

I am running Visual Pinball/Pinmame through MAMEWAH.

I'm trying to re-map the plunger control from the default "Enter" to "LCtrl" for all tables, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I'd appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance.

When you install visual pinball, it creates a program group in your start menu. Just go start visual pinball there. When the window comes up click 'Preferences' at the top then 'Keys' You can remap your keys there. It will apply for all visual pinball or vpinmame tables.

If for some reason you dont have the program group in your start menu, just browse out to where you installed visual pinball and dbl click VPinball.exe.

Note that there is no mapping the keys for vpinmame, just set the keys as mentioned above and it will work for both.

The answer above is only partially true.

There is a standard set of key that is remappable.  There is nothing that forces the programmer to use those keys.  Almost every one does, but some games use '1' to start and others use 'S'.  For special keys like the MagnaSave in BlacKnight, there are know predefined keys, and you have to edit the script to change the mappings.

Hmm, I did a search and found these:

Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!
