Yup they are see-through.  But they aren't alpha blended (only available in xp/2000)  98 users are treated to crappy psuedo transparent menus.  I might add the option to have solid menus in the future.

In case you haven't figured it out I code and run lazarus in XP :)  98 support is merely an afterthought at this point.

Hey,
I know but I turn it on and I am running xp and it works but the controls do not work with it on for some reason. When its set to 0 it works.

I have the same problem on my Windows 2000 SP3 machine.  If I have the FX set to on (1), the menu will not come up.  If I have it set to off (0), then it works.  This is in both 2.0 and the 2.3 beta.

I have DirectX 8.1 loaded with a Geforce2 MX 400 video card.

If I set it to 1 it does show up and looks better..just that the keys stop responding..ah well.

The only thing I can think of is you may have downloaded some skins from a-player's site.  They were corrupted and I corrected the versions on my page but I don't think he's got around to fixing them on his site yet.  Also if the alpha value is set to anything lower than about 100 the menu becomes invisible on most skins, but it depends upon the color scheme.
