I see mame 0.84 is out
« on: July 04, 2004, 12:47:17 pm »
I am currently running mame 0.71 and I think I have all the new and changed roms up to 0.84.  I was going to try and figure out if I do in fact have a complete clean set using clrmamepro.  However from what I can tell I need a complete .dat file to compare my roms against.  Where can I get a .dat file from?

Thanks,
MiKman

c:\mame> mame -listxml > mame84.dat

Do it just like that.  Part of what's above is clearly a command prompt.

c:\mame> mame -listinfo > mame83.dat

Is how you did it for versions pre .84

Thanks Peale much appreciated.  I had no idea that mame was capable of generating a .dat file.  Definately gotta write that one down for future reference.

OK now that all my roms are checked out, whats the best way to upgrade mame32 without losing any of my highscores, and settings etc etc?

Replace the mame.exe file with the new one.  Back up the old one first.  Sometimes you can't save your scores between versions.
