Trim >24" wide 27" TV
« on: July 03, 2004, 02:40:49 pm »
I've been looking around for a MAME worthy TV and came across this: http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&u=c&catoid=-11482&qp=0&oid=86035&m=0

This is called the "Magnavox 27" Stereo TV with Smart Sound" at Circuit City and see that the width of this TV is only 23.7".   Yes, less than 24".  That would fit into my tiny Space Duel cabinet even, and it's 27", has component video, s-video, and all that other good stuff.

Could somebody tell me what they think of this TV? If it's got what I need, or if somebody has experience with it, etc.   I can't believe it's so narrow.  Perfect for a cabinet in that respect, and it's not too pricey either.  Please give me some opinions.

It's possible they got the width and depth reversed.  Otherwise you might want to make sure your cab is deep enough to support that thing.

Yeah I didn't think of that.  Might have.  But then again, 29.5 would be far too wide for what the picture indicates, so I think it might possibly be right.  Will have to contact Circuit City, or maybe I'll stop by their store with a measuring device and find out that way.  If it *is* 23.7, and has all the goodies I want (and appears to have a decent screen) then I'm pretty psyched about this one.

Well my money's on a typo of some kind.  My 27 inch tv's screen is 22 inches exactly.  Assuming all 27's are that (fairly safe), that means there's a total of 1.7 inches total on the sides.  Doesn't look that slim.

Any word on this?  I checked Magnavox's site for specs and could only find the 36 and 32 in version of it which  28 and 25 in wide respectively.  This doesn't seem so far fetched now, but any sort of confirmation would be excellent.
