No Escape! - Dos Mame, hitting escape freezes PC

I hit esc to exit the game and the entire pc freezes...it takes a ctrl-alt-del to get back out.  Anyone seen this?  Thanks

Conflict with some TSR you have running??? Check what you have loading at boot...  ???
