website photo gallery plug-in...
« on: June 26, 2004, 02:08:36 pm »
I downloaded and installed gallery cause I really like the way it looks and it is supposed to be relatively easy to use.  Well, still can't get the thing to work and I think I'm giving up (I even posted on BYOAC for help, with no luck).

So I'm looking for a simple plug-in for my website so that I can document the construction of my cab (I have so many pictures, and I'm waiting for my website before I post to the Project Announcements page).

I really like the look of Gallery (I think Lance is using it on his site), so if anybody has any suggestions, that would be great.  Thanks so much!

If you use XP you can use the CD Slideshow creator from Microsoft's XP Powertoys.

I used it to create this: http://www.mamenation.com/default.htm

What kind of issue are you having with Gallery?  I've used it on my site, and it works beautifully.  Maybe I can help get it installed correctly.

Couldn't be happier that you're stepping up to the plate to try to help...

Anways, I posted the information about the problem here.

and a question in addition to the link...

In the debug output, it says:

Error messages::
/usr/local/ImageMagick/convert: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Is that all one error or are those several errors?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks so much.

(ps...  don't have XP)

That's good, since all my experience is with Linux.

It sounds like it can't find the libraries.  Can you verify that particular file is in that directory?  Or on your system @ all?

I moved the file "convert" into the folder that it mentions.

In the FAQ, it says the following:
Error in loading shared libraries -- Indicates that your dynamic library loader can't find a library that it needs. On Linux you can add the directory containing the appropriate library to /etc/ld.so.conf and then run ldconfig -v as root to fix this. If you don't have root access to the server, either contact your host for help or download a new version of ImageMagick or NetPBM and use the new install instead.

So I'm not sure about the "appropriate library" to add to the /etc/ld.so.conf file.

Could you check whats in your file and let me know what diretories are listed?  They might be ImageMagick directories, or gallery directories...  I don't know.

I can't, actually.  I'm in the midst of a migration.

There's a bloke you can ask.  Check your PM, I've given you his email address.  He helped me with my problems with Gallery.
