what's the NMS file in mamewah setup
« on: June 24, 2004, 12:28:00 am »
There is an option to save the NMS file. What is it?

Also I noticed that Mamewah setup doesn't seem to detect that the something was changed (config marked as "dirty") so it doesn't offer to save the emulator config file. I usually end up touching the emulator name to force the confiug to be saved.

NMS files are from the ArcadeOS days, and are used to display full game descriptions when an emulator only supports short names (think MAME without all the commandline switches useful for FE's).

Emulator settings should get saved automaticaly when you change emulators etc. If there is something that does not enabled the save it will be something that was added on the last version.  :-[

The option to create the NMS file is for if you edit the game list names from the program. eg I have Sega CD iso's and they only have short names so i edited the game list names to what I want, then create an NMS file so when I refresh the list I don't have to rename them again. And it's a lot simpler than writing an NMS file by hand. ;D

I must get round to updating the help file at some point.......

what's the latest version number for Mamewah setup?
I'll try and come up with a test case where I'm not being offered to save the config whrn it should.
Great program by the way, it'a life save to quickly setup/tweak a bunch of emulators.

The last version 7.7 is the one that is wrong. I have been going through the program and have found a few options that enable the MAMEWAH config save instead of Emulator save  :-[
Most of them should be fixed on the next version.
