Having major issues with MAMEWAH and Windows '98. Do ya'll know of a fairly cheap way to upgrade to Windows XP or is $100 the cheapest I'm going to get?

Check out Pricewatch and their software section.

If you still go to A&M you ought to get awesome student discounts on MS software. I can talk to my recent-graduate buddy about how he did it. Even if you've already graduated, maybe a friend can get it for you. Either way, you'd have to be a registered student to qualify.

What sort of discount are you talking here? The XP upgrade, as far as I've seen, goes for $90-$100.

I'm talking FULL versions less than $50 - maybe less than $20. I'm a recent graduate of UTPA (another TX school) that bought WinXP directly from the campus bookstore for $6! I dn't know if you'll get the same deal at A&M, but I know it's substantial.

I can ask my CS-degree friend about it tomorrow at work if you like.

That would be cool! Can you ask? If it's worth it, I can find a few current students to get me the software. Thanks!

Ok I'll make a note to ask my friend tomorrow at work. He just finished getting a master's degree at A&M and he told me he had 2 copies... One through regular student channels and one through the CS department. I'll see what he has to say!

Heck, ask him if he wants to sell one? Pass my e-mail address along to him ---> cardnutt@yahoo.com

Thanks for the help!!

ever considered eBay??

Some people sell their XP licenses because they decide to dump it for things like Linux.
