Could the monitor have a problem now?
« on: June 17, 2004, 11:29:40 am »
:'(  first of all I have a Wells Gardner U5000 monitor and I have been putting the bits and pieces together.  Last weekend I hooked the computer up via the jpac to the monitor, finally got a picture using powerstrip.  The Picture was readable and ok but the resoultion was wrong.  I ordered the arcadevga from ulitmarc and my wifes cousin was there when it arrived.
He put the card in the computer attached to the jpac and fired the unit up.  the picture is worse and the computer is loading up then later reboots after windows is loaded.  Checking his connections everything looked good excet for one issue he plugged the  power supply of the cabinet into an adapter (the ones that allow you to plug a three prong into a two prong outlet) He moved the unit from my basement that has grounded outlets to my barn that does not.  Could he have fried something in the monitor?  put the first video card back in and looks just fine on computer pc then when back on the arcade monitor it is really bad looking.  Anyone have any ideas?  thanks for anything

Stupid question:

Did you install the arcadeVGA windows drivers?? They are not the regular ATI drivers.. they're specially written for the ArcadeVGA!

Oh.. and as far as ground goes.  I wouldn't worry too much.  Ground is important but not to the point that the monitor will not function.

I have a lot of old TV's that have only 2 plugs..

JOE B:  Not a stupid question, when I looked at how bad the monitor was looking (and I mean terrible, colors were bad some tearing of the screen for the most part totally unreadable) I started back tracking to check the problem to get back to where I was I didn't even mess with them

The U-5000 is a medium res (EGA) monitor and it should be grounded.

Ken do you think that this may have caused some damage to the monitor,,,,, (please excuse my lack of knowlege here) but I believe that my arcade vga is meant for standard res monitors and I may be barking up a bad tree anyway?
