Mamewah not starting mame games?
« on: June 14, 2004, 04:48:52 pm »
This is a wierd question. I select a MAME game and try to run it. I hit the start button "1". Nothing happens. I checked all the mappings and everything and it is all set up fine.

I know the button works because I can still navidate the menus with it.

Any ideas?

Yes I verified that mame is working properly.

have you tested the actual game? Use the command prompt and try to load the game that way.

Have you recently moved files? I moved my MameWah folder once and it didn't like it. You need to unzip it into a folder again if this is the case.

Do you have your rom directories set up correctly in MameWah?  Try refreshing the games list.  For that matter, do you have all the settings in Mamewah set up correctly, i.e. executable path, etc etc?

There are some MameWah tutorials around also, although I don't have the links offhand, sorry.  There is also a program to help set it up for newer versions, but I am still using an old version (been meaning to upgrade).

Try that stuff first, and if you can, give us more info. Just saying its not working can mean anything. What are your settings?

The game works fine from the command prompt. I will regenerate the lists and see if that makes a difference.

I havnt moved any folders or files.

My settings are all correct. The path, rom path, options, are all set.

Well.. I recopied the mamewah folders from my backup and it works fine. Something probably got toggled or something somewhere.

Thank God for backups!

If it does *nothing* when you hit 1, it usually means a path / filename is wrong.  I check before attempting to launch any .exe files that the file exists...could be that something just got messed up slightly - usually happens accidentally when editing CFG files.
