Good ole Cocktail
« on: June 13, 2004, 07:26:56 pm »
Hi everyone,

Im wondering if theres any way to 'flip' a vertical screen for any or every cocktail game.

What I mean is, browsing through the list, as I try out most games, the '1player' side in a cocktail game differs alot. Some games offer the 'flip screen' option in the dipswitch commands, while I find others do not.

Im wondering if theres a way to configure each game individually, so if its 1player side is wrong to me, I can flip it (if the game doesnt offer a dipswitch). All I can find in the Mame config is 'flipx' which seems to work globally, while I need it to work locally for individual games.

Also, Im using the 3dArcade frontend if anyone is very familiar with that, and know if i can set each game that way.

Finally, I searched the forum, and from what I read, my best solution would be to use 'advancemame'. Im just checking, hoping theres a way using regular command-line mame (or maybe through the frontend).

Thanks!

In mame use autoror or aurorol.

Sir,

Autorox only seems to rotate the screen 90 degrees (making the game horizontal rather than vertical)

What I mean, is I want an already vertical game, to flip (like the dipswitch in a game like, arkanoid). I want to be able to do this in games that DONT have the dipswitch for flip. Im wondering if theres a way to do this. (Im experimenting with mame, and it looks to me a solution MIGHT be putting -flipx -flipy for command options, Im hoping theres an easier way/command to do this however)

What game doesn't flip that would be flip friendly?

Donkey Kong Jr?

** Space Invaders doesnt either I dont think. I doubt it, but is there is any way to 'add' your own dipswitch that would act as 'flip'? If every vertical game had a flip switch, this wouldnt be a problem, but from what i can tell, half face one way, half another.

Experimenting even more, I dont think its possible to add individual command lines to roms, only globally to mame.

So Im just wondering here, does EVERYONE who uses a cocktail, simply change position to whatever side the game starts 1st player on? Then remap the controls from player 2 to player 1? I mean...theres GOT to be an easier way to do this if no flip screen dipswitch is available.

Did you ever figure this one out?  I am working on building my cocktail and I want a set 1 player side and 2 player side.

Look into advance mame. I think it'll do what you are looking for.
