Classic Game Font's
« on: August 06, 2002, 11:18:35 am »
Is there a good source/link/etc for some of the classic-esque fonts from marquees etc?

Like the Pacman font or the galaga or galaxian font etc...?

I imagine some of you front-end coders got the fonts from somewhere, right? =P

Thanks!

Thanks SirPoonga,

I'm good on the pacman font but was looking for some others like galaga/galaxian (more their marquee font than the graphics fonts)

Hadn't much luck with the billion pop-ups free font sites... was hoping someone already  compiled a few of the ones germane to classic arcade enthusiasts....

Johnny sent me a pretty cool collection of 49 game fonts (which was awesome, thanks!)  but I'm still on the prowl for more Marquee-esque fonts (as opposed to in game font style).

Since this is become harder than I anticipated in tracking down, and I haven't found a classic arcade font resource, i'll probably shlop a page/site together for others future use... so if you have some fonts/etc... let me know and I'll start compiling a site/space for em.

Thanks!

Ugh, back from the dead, I know...  I was trying to track down a Galaga / Galaxian font myself, and came upon this thread.  I have looked here on the boards, and googled a bit, but still nothing... Anyone came across any "classic" fonts (other than Pac-Man) since 2002  :)

I don't know about any specific fonts, but by far the best font site I have seen is www.dafont.com, it's got a boatload of really neat looking fonts and definately a huge variety to choose from.  If not an identical font to what you are looking for they may have somthing that you can use and then convert it to curves in whatever graphics program you are going to use before doing some minor adjustments.  I also think that they don't use popups, so that is good.

Good luck,
Brian
