Attaching AVGA to Monitor: What wires go where??
« on: June 12, 2004, 05:56:42 am »
I have just received a 25" Kortek Monitor and have had it installed in my new cab.  I've got the Arcade VGA Card and I bought the breakout VGA cable to go with it.  I'm a little confused about the V and H connections to plug in.  The Kortek monitor I have has a connector on the circuit board with the following pins marked:

R  G  B  E  V+ H+      E   V-  H-
|   |   |   |   |    |    |    |    |    |
-----------------------------------

The VGA Breakout cable has  R,G,B, H, V & I.  Obviously the RGB connect to RGB, but do the V and H connect to the - or the + pins??  From what I've read on the ultimarc site, I think I should plug into the negative V and H pins, but I'm not sure.  I'm totally new to Arcade monitors so any help would be appreciated.

As a GUESS, I would expect E, V- and H- to go to ground which it looks like I is on your cable. Then you just connect RGB, GND and H/V+.

Just the E's go to ground (I on your cable)--then you hook up either the H+/V+ OR H-/V- depending on your monitor.  The wells gardner k7191 uses the H-/V- so you could start there--all you will get is no sync if you are using the wrong pair.
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

Thanks for that guys.  I'll try hooking it up and see how it goes.  I can't wait to see what all the fuss is about with Arcade Monitors.

ArcadeVGA outputs negative sync signals. suggest try connecting wires H and V to H- and V- on the monitor. The I wire is ground. think that should go to E.

Some monitors expect a composite sync. advantages of AVGA giving negative syncs is that composite sync can be made by simple joining the  H and V wires together.
