Replace a PTC Thermistor
« on: June 10, 2004, 03:25:12 pm »
I have a monitor chassis that came without it's PTC, it was probable taken out because it wasn't working fine. I have a circuit schematic but it doesn't give the specifications of the PTC.
Do you know what should I buy?, it has to be three terminals. The degaussing coil is 27 ohm and the monitor is 220V.
Thank you.

I'd suggest the best thing is to get rid of the PTC and follow the article on Oscars website...

Contact the monitor manufacturer and order it as a repair part.

Unfortunatelly, the manufacturer does not longer exist. The only thing I got from the guy that sold me the cab is a circuit schematic that doesn't specify a model.

I'll try that, do you think I can do the same with the monitor coil itself?.
I was thinking of leaving the coil in it's place at first and try to degauss it that way, if that doesn't work, make an "external" degaussing coil.
