High Scores Easy Q
« on: June 10, 2004, 11:47:52 am »
I'm a little confused about high scores.  It seems to me that my scores are reset every time the rom is loaded.  Is there anyway to keep this from happening?

Do you have the hiscore.dat file?

Even then, some games don't support it.

And if you have an old version... get a new one.

about 5-10 (don't remember) versions ago, the format was changed.

I guess I don't have that file.  I have mame 0.82.  When I get that file where do I put it and how does it ensure that the games save their data to the correct location?  I guess I had the wrong impression that the highscore.dat was a file that people posted their high scores on.  I wasn't really interested in other people's high scores  ;)

Same as the MAME.exe file, usually C:\MAME\

It's auto-magic, actually, it's a good idea to edit your mame.ini file to make sure you have a line that reads
hiscore_directory       hi

You're thinking of MARP (www.mameworld.net/marp, I think).
