Anyone using cocktail
« on: June 14, 2004, 06:44:02 pm »
Sorry Im repeating this topic from 'software' Im just hoping I can find an answer, and maybe I was in the wrong topic.

For anyone who has made and uses a cocktail cabinet, with vertical games how do you situate the vertical screen so it always faces the same way, for every game.

What I mean is, I find with using mame, that some games will face different ways in vertical mode. Most games have a dipswitch to 'flip the screen' while ive found many do not (Donkey Kong Jr, Space Invaders, etc)

Is there anyway to fix this?

Also, just to specify, Im not talking about 'cocktail mode' as i understand the screen flipping from 1st to 2nd player. I mean when you first boot the game, it will look upside down from 1st player perspective, and without a 'flip screen' dipswitch.

Thank you,
JKawch

MAME will flip the display for you by using a command line switch. I think it might be -flipx or -flipy. but check.

Note that Advance MAME has an option to force all games which support it to use cocktail mode automatically. You can also flip all games while they are running, so anything can be played cocktail style.
