Mame32 Vertical and Horizontal Hold/Roll
« on: June 08, 2004, 01:52:21 pm »
I'm having some trouble figuring this problem out, as well as some trouble figuring out which forum to post this in :)  Not sure if this is a problem with software, hardware, or my arcade monitor.  Here's the deal:

I'm using an AdvanceMENU, Mame32, JPAC, ArcadeVGA, WG arcade monitor setup.

I have no problem with horizontal games at all, but when I try to play a vertical game (like 1942, for example) I get a slow (very annoying) rolling of the image.  I can alter the monitor "Vert Hold" setting specifically for vertical games, but then I get a roll when using Windows or a Horizontal game.  Am I missing a setting somewhere--in MAME, AdvanceMENU, etc.?

Please lead me in the right direction!

Thanks,
Zach

Hi China box

I have exatctly the same problem as you and using the same hardware (except the monitor which is an Hantarex). Did you find the solution to your problem? ??? ???

Thx

You need to find the monitors v-hold 'sweet spot'.  It should be possible to stop the image rolling in all modes, but it can prove difficult (use tiny adjustments at a time).

Also, old monitors can benefit from cleaning the v-hold pot.
