JoyToKey, MameWah & Mame
« on: June 02, 2004, 01:39:12 pm »
So I'm using MameWah as my FE and am planning on using Joy to Key to use it with my playstation joysticks and adapters.  I've only dabbled with JoytoKey and am wondering if there is a way to make joytokey work solely with Mamewah and use the joystick support native in Mame.  Any help will be appreciated! ;D

I'm not 100% sure on this as I haven't done it, but here's what I think:  Setup MAME to use joystick inputs only, (& enable joystick of course), and I think that will work (ie the keypresses will effectively still be there, but ignored by MAME).  I am assuming that with JoyToKey running the 'real' joystick inputs are still read (you could check in Control Panel > Game Controllers, Test screen).

I am using MameWah with JoytoKey with playstation controllers as an interface to my control panel, and can confirm that everything will work with MAME.

The only thing is if you need to change the inputs for a game with the TAB, do it without JoytoKey running or you'll end up with inputs that add the keyboard press. It will still work but looks weird like -

Coin 1      J1 Button 1 1

JoytoKey adds the extra 1, if that button = keyboard 1.
