This thread reminded me that it had almost been 90 days since selling one of my items on eBay. From the start the guy was trouble. I listed in my description only shipping to US and Canada. He emailed BEFORE he bid and asked if I could make an exception to ship to Mexico, I said sorry buddy you probably don't want to pay that much for shipping (a polite way to say NO). He BIDS ANYWAYS and says, "don't worry i'll pay it." So he ends up winning it (my luck), and then he tells me he doesn't get paid for another week. So I'm feeling nice, and I give him 7 days. NO RESPONSE. Eventually I email back, and he responds saying there is a holiday and then a weekend, yada yada, so he couldn't pay until next tuesday. Nearly a week later, he emails me telling me he has the money, but he would like me to "pick him up some things". He asked for a 256MB MMC media card, because apparently in Mexico they are really expensive, and it would cost almost nothing to bundle it with his package. So I agree, and nearly a week after that FINALLY he pays, but ONLY FOR THE ORIGINAL ITEM. It's a good thing I didn't buy the expansion card yet or I would have been out a good $70. So anyway, now that his part of the deal is complete, I receive emails every hour asking if the item was shipped. I kept telling him I would send the item out the next day, but he kept emailing again and again for tracking info. So finally I send it out, but stupid me wanted to save $5 by this "Surf-And-Turf" method. Little did I know it didn't offer tracking. So I email the guy back telling him I sent the package but I didn't get a tracking number. I email him the receipt for proof. But he never responded. I emailed him a week later, still no response. A month later, nope, none. Now wondering what the heck was going on, or what this guy was scheming I was starting to get worried.

But.. Finally... Yesterday I got this feedback:

It's a very very honest seller: He had me in his hands and still was good to me

"Had me in his Hands" <-- Not sure what that means, but whatever, it was positive feedback nonetheless, Fewf!

Three months of hell for $100....

Well we're on the same page there. I recently bought a small LCD screen on ebay (buy it now, paypal the same day). Not only was it not the brand that I bid on, it also didn't work. I contacted the seller and his response was pretty much a suggestion that I perform a rather uncomfortable act upon myself. I then replied that if an exchange or refund was not forthcoming I would have no choice but to leave negative feedback. He said "you neg me I neg you". Bear in mind that I upheld my part of the deal, yet I'm going to get a neg because he sold me a defective product! Oh you better belive I'm counting the minutes until 89 days 23 hours and 58 minutes gets here!

On a positive note I did manage to repair the screen, no thanks to the deadbeat seller.

actually... stringray.... from what I have read from
those paypalwarning.com... paypalsucks.com... etc site...

all you have to do is notify paypal saying that guy cheated your stuffs... and they'll reverse the transaction, and also freeze his account.... from what I read, it seems like paypal is "kinda" on the buyer's side....

I just had a guy that shipped me some rechargeable batteries--60 days late!  Finally got them but because i was passed paypal's 30 day limit I would have been screwed--from now on--if I don't see a product in 25 days--i will automatically get paypal to reverse charges --no more screwing around with morons.

Since you have email proof (you did SAVE those emails, right?) you could get negative feedback reversed.  eBay, screwed up as they are, are very strict regarding this sort of thing.  Holding feedback hostage is one of those things they don't tread lightly upon.  I'd report it to eBay, and leave your feedback plainly.  Just make sure it explains it all.  In 80 characters or less, of course.

In my past experience I have be givin unjust Neg feedback for get this 1 "Not Selling the Highest Bidder my Item" and I have emails that date 2 months I waited for this guy to reply so Neg Feedback + Non Paying Bidder then I got Neg feedback in return! I reported it to ebay + sent them all the emails and they replyed back with "Sorry we have strict feedback rules when it comes to removing feedback!" What a JOKE. EBAY is a JOKE that don't even care about crook seller who send death threats which again I reported and was told it had nothing to do with ebay!
LOL you must be kidding me right??? Ebay don't care! As long as they get there cut!

E-bay is the BEST!!!  They read all my forwarded emails and dealt with the dead beat accordingly.

I LOVE EBAY!!!!

With your grammer skills I can't believe eBay would ignore your emails.

When I told them that I got death threats they sent over 20 eBay armed guards to follow me around.

I agree eBay is the best when dealing with forwarded emails, because they know forwarded emails, like quotes, can't be edited.

Hahahaha Dartful Dodger aka Ebay Lover!

I luv your little icon, see i would be the one in the red and you would be the kano character getting his head kicked in :)! LOL

What do you work as "Dartful Dodger"? you must be a english teacher! Since this forum is all about gramma you must be god! Oh Hail the English teacher!!! Please forgive me ohhhh great 1. Please teach me your gramma skills or better yet, your knowledge cause it would only take acouple of minutes to learn! Maybe you work for ebay? With the responses I get from customer service it looks like they hire monkeys that send out generic email templates!

When you have something constructive to say then you should post not before, don't waste peoples time pointing out things no one really cares about!

Quick think of something really funny to reply with! cause no one really care what you have to say!

Are you 11?  Why must you get all whiney?  And anyways, whether spelling, grammar and punctuation are important, your writing is downright painful to read.  So, Dartful Dodger has a point - people like listening to you (err, reading your posts) more when you use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation, or at least make it less confusing.
There is SO a spoon.

Although it's bad netiquette to nitpick (like the guy I got into an arguement with on another board because he called me a loser for accidentally typing your instead of you're) I do think it's important to read back what you wrote.  Mispelling is one thing but it's nice for others to be able to understand what you're saying.  A basic period goes a long way.

I blame AOL, as always.  ;D

I'm sorry for the off topic posts caused by me.

Just to clear up my point, I don't care about typos on a message board(as long as it's translatable) Spelling and grammar mistakes here make your posts look real, like your typing what you'd actually say.  If it wasn't for copying and pasting my text into Outlook, my post would look worse.

Back to the reason I pointed it out.

I'm sure the guys in the complaint department at eBay are bombarded by emails everyday, and if you're sending them emails that read like your posts, you'd have a hard time to getting them to take your complaints seriously.

Let me get this straight...

You left someone negative feedback for non-payment of a winning bid after 60+ days.  Then, that non-paying bidder left you negative feedback as well?  And Ebay, who has to deal with:

-fraudulent auctions for, among other things, human organs, pieces of the World Trade Center, MAME Romsets, Pirated *everything*, etc.
-Fraudulent bidders, who drive the winning bid of auctions that make it onto Fark or Slashdot up into the thousands
-Escrow site scams
-Legitimate auction scams
-PayPal scams

...didn't take your (I'm assuming polite and well written) request to have a negative feedback removed seriously enough to spend the time and money to personally reply back to you request?

My God....

No wonder you don't like Ebay...  I may just faint dead away myself.

I challenge anyone to find:

-An Ebay user with a feedback rating over 100 who has 0 negative feedbacks.  Bonus points for every 200 points of feedback the user has over 100, and for every full year the user's account has been active.

-A situation where user 'A' leaves negative feedback for user 'B', and user 'B' responds with positive feedback.

If no one feeds the trolls, we're just going to keep eating your goats.

LOL thats really funny!  ;D not  >:(

1. I have reported about 3 different ebay users to ebay for selling Rom DVD's and every time they have sent me back nothing and the auctions have not been stopped? So yeah there really busy dealing with piracy. Also reported a guy for selling cracked version of PC games but again ebay did nothing.

2. Also I reported a guy for selling items on ebay and never sending the item to myself + spoke with 5 other ebay users who got sucked in and ebay didn't do anything to his/her account. I must say the item was only worth $45 but if you can do your maths that $270 the guy has ripped off just people I know. For example, I paid for it to be sent registered post and the guy gave me a fake reg post id.

So you can sorta get the feeling why im not a happy camper!  :(

Is it 1990 all over again?   ;D

Not that I'm sticking up for eBay but they probably handle at least hundreds of reports, complaints, etc. a day.  And they do have to investigate these things - they can't just take someone's word as gold.  So if this was something you were expecting instant results from then that's probably why you are unsatisfied.  Of course if this was something that happened some time ago that's still unresolved, you could always try sending a factual, unemotional note to the proper parties.

I don't know the details beyond what you said about what actions you took so please don't read the above an arguement.  Just a few friendly tips.

Thankyou Dave.

I will take your opinion on board. Just acouple of things tho, 1. If I sell for example a gun on ebay its not ebays choice to investigate its simply the law guns can't be sold on any online auctions, they don't have authorite to sell guns. If I sell pirated videos on ebay, again its not there choice it law. Thats why ebay take more notice and deal with things very quickly eg when Lawyers start knocking on there door asking them to take things of ebay because of copyright. So its in ebays best interest to deal with things before legal action happens. Im not asking ebay to take my word for things thats why they need to investigate leads. If its on there online auction its there problem not mine. Im helping ebay not pestering!

Anyway its all cool! Im getting a QC friend of mine to type up a letter asking for the feedback to be taken off because of dafermation.
I think its way too easy for D*ck H%ads to abuse Ebay. Thats why they need good customer care people to figure out which users are good and which are just there just to be knobs!

;) But really in the bid scheme of things, who CARES!

Okay maybe 100 feedbacks was a little low..  And how may users did you sort through before you found these?

*pinballoutlet.com*( 198) - Member since 2000, *4 bonus points*, 2 Neutral Feedbacks in the last 12 months
  who-won( 179)  - Member since 1999 *5 Bonus Points*, 100% Positive Feedback *2 Bonus Points*
carolinagamebroker( 160)  - Member less than a year, does a have neutral feedback in the last 6 months.
e-sale.gulfcoast( 198)  - Member since 1999 *5 Bonus Points*, No Neutral feedbacks in last 12 months *2 Bonus Points*
hapsreplays( 112) -  Member since 1999 *5 Bonus Points*, No Neutral feedbacks in last 12 months *2 Bonus Points*

Total: 30 Points

I wan't saying that people with 100% feedback don't exist.  I know they exist, I've bought from individuals with 1,000+ feedbacks, 100% positive.  But I'm guessing that they're about 2% of the e-bay population.  The users you identified have been members for 5 years, and still don't have 200 feedbacks, that's less than 20 transactions a year, selling *and* buying.

The point I'm making is that there are a lot of angry people out there who leave negatives in the heat of the moment, and just about anybody who deals on Ebay consistently for any length of time is going to acquire a few negative feedbacks.  When I'm bidding, the most telling thing I can find about a seller is how they reply to negatives.  Sometimes you get things like, "YOUR FAULT YOU SCAMMER!!!  BEWARE!!! ENJOY YOUR NEGATIVE!!", and sometimes you find things like "Buyer refused to pay after 3 months & 5 emails. No pay, no item."  How someone responds to these types of situations tells a lot about how they do business.

Personally, I'd be surprised if anyone actually reads the positive feedback people receive.
If no one feeds the trolls, we're just going to keep eating your goats.

http://www.internetnews.com/ec-news/article.php/70301

It's not illegal to sell guns in online auctions, it's not even illegal for eBay to sell guns, it WAS eBay's choice to stop selling guns and amunition.

I agree eBay is the best when dealing with forwarded emails, because they know forwarded emails, like quotes, can't be edited.

Forwarded emails can be edited, and it is very easy to do.

i know i don't. i go straight for the negatives. and consider the feedback of the people leaving the negative to evaluate further. negatives aren't necessarily bad, just an unavoidable part of doing business and the more business you do, the more negatives you will acquire.

I agree, I don't read positives either.  I wish Ebay provided a way to filter out the positive feedbacks so I can see the neutral and negatives only.  Or even filter out any positive with an "A++++++++++" in it.  I think I'm going to start leaving positive feedback that reads "If you're reading this, you're a rare person", or "It doesn't matter what I write here, as long as it's marked positive" and maybe throw in a couple of "+++++++++++" s and "!!!!!!!!!!!!!"s to make it blend in.
