AdvanceCD video resolution
« on: May 28, 2004, 11:04:43 am »
Okay, so I made my first functional AdvanceCD yesterday. I did add a lot of cool ROMs successfully, but did not add the snapshots successfully (no big deal right now, I'll figure that out later).  My question is this: The video resolution or rendering gives the graphics a "paint by numbers" effect, (ie the colors are all globbed into sections and are not blended together).  Is there some way to fix this on my next AdvanceCD, adjust my current AdvanceCD, or is it a hardware issue?

I'm out of town currently so I don't have access to my normal resources.  What type of computer is this on?  And what video card (or integrated chipset) is involved?  I should be home later today and hopefully by tonite I'll be able to render a more educated opinion.
One thing to try is on a different PC to see if the view is similar.

The computer I am using this on has a GeForce 2 MX.  I realize this is not the greatest card, but mame in windows does not do this.. I hope to check the cd out on another PC soon.

Did you get a chance to try the CD on a different computer yet?  I've not had the chance to try it on a couple of my machines to see if I can replicate the screen issues you've got.  If the kids go to bed early tonite, maybe...

I was hoping to over the weekend, but I ran out of time. (I had time to play it, I just am in the process of fixing my other computer and have not finished yet).

One thing is for certain, AdvanceCD is a fun way to play with MAME on any computer.

I have the same problem you are having.  I think the thing with AdvanceCD is it has the same restrictions as a basic build of Linux.  I reccomend getting on their help newslist and emailing your question there.
