Eu4ria's controller - WIP
« on: May 27, 2004, 12:20:14 am »
Hello to all,

I have just about got all my parts ready for my system - just waitig for my ipac from theuk which shipped yesterday. I plan on building a 2 player arcade controller - have to wait until i move into a bigger place before I can build myfull cabinet.
For layout I am going to go with seven buttons per player layed out in what looks like quite a common layout:

        B   B   B
        G   b   Y
     R

R = Red, B = Black, G=green, Y=yellow, b = blue

I am primarily doing this as it is my intention to also wire up my controller to be usable for MAME as well as on consoles, I have a gamecube, Dreamcast, PS2 and PsOne. I had an XBox but it borked itself ;D

My thought is to wire up my controls to somthing like D25 male connectors and the relavent game controller innards to D25 female connectors and then just pop the lid and plug in the correct D25 connector to make that the working connection. Has anybody tried anything like this ? Any problems encountered? Suggestions ?

Yeah it's been done, only problem really is size of the wires, they are very small and the fact that the cables are all the same colour and you will have to label them all. Usually this kind of thing is done using a terminal block between the CP wiring and the D25.
