Guess this cartoon
« on: May 25, 2004, 03:18:50 pm »
I woke up thinking about this cartoon from the 80s.  I can't remember the name of it.

The show was about a race of people divided into two groups and they fought a war that killed off all life on the planet, so the two groups went under ground and froze the people that were still alive. They put the memories of the leaders into computers that would resurrect the frozen people when the planet could support life.

The hero of the cartoon was a guy with brown hair and a white stripe going through it.  His name was Jace, and I think the cartoon was called "Jace and the ..."

Jace's space ship crashed on this planet and the computer people needed the bio people from Jace's ship to make them stronger.

I might be mixing up two cartoons, a Jace cartoon and the robot people needing bio people cartoon, let me know if you can refresh my memories.

Thanks

I think you might be.  Part of it sounds like "Robotix" and part of it kinda sounds like "Galaxy Rangers"

Wasn't there something to do with a giant flying ship (i don't remember if it looked like a viking ship or an ark.)  If this is the show I am thinking of, didn't they drive around and hi tech biomechanical vehicles?

I watched so much TV as a kid, glued to the screen sorta like i am now with my pc.

My Favs-
Transformers
GI Joe
HE-MAN
Thundercats
Superfriends
Spiderman and Friends
Voltron

Others I rememeber loving:
Silverhawks
Tigersharks
Galaxy Rangers
Bionic Six
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
MASK
Defenders of the Earth
Dungeons and Dragons
Inhumanoids
Droids

As soon as I saw the mention of Wheeled Warriors it was like boom, instant flashback to good times.

Tigersharks and Silverhawks were inferior compared to the genius that was Thundercats.  MASK rocked.

Yes Silverhawks and Tigersharks were definitely not of the same standards of Thundercats but they did follow in their footsteps. They were all produced by Rankin/Bass and the music was scored by Shuki Levy, I think that alone is why I was biased about Tigersharks but not Silverhawks. I was nuts about Silverhawks, something really appealed to me about that show, I used to say to myself damn Copper Kid your so lucky to be on their team. I wish i was there instead of you, id me much more cooler that you are. I can whistle just as good :)

Anyone else remember an 80s cartoon called the Mysterious Cities of Gold?  It had three kids (Esteban, Zia, and Tau) and three adults (Mendoza, Pancho, and Sanches) who were searching for the mysterious cities of gold.  They were pursued by the Spanish and the Olmecs at various points in the series.  It was a French produced/Japanese animated show.  I actually broke down and ordered some discs with the episodes on them awhile back.  The show was actually somewhat educational, too.

Holy crap I had forgotten all about that show--see the start here (http://www.wheelies.net/) for any other old fogies with bad memories.   That show didn't hold a match to thundercats (cheetarah baby!) ,transformers or he-man and the masters of the universe though.  I used to also watch a show called blackstar and...too many to list.

That reminds me, what was that cartoon/toy series that had the big robot action figures with a suction cup instead of a lower body?  You could push their backpack and their arms would grip... what was that?

Heres one thats been bothering me for a while.

Anyone remember an old cartoon where there was a teenager who transformed into a car?  And it was something stupid, like if he got hit with cold water, he would turn into a car, and hot water turned him back.  I never really watched it, but I tried to prove to a friend that there was such a cartoon.

And another was something about a teenager who had magical red converse?  I remember absolutely nothing about the cartoon, except they had some flashy transformation sequence where he would pull out his magic shoes out of this dufflebag with a lightning bolt on it and put them on.

No, you're right, I remember that one too.  He was driving his car and was hit by some variety of molecular...something...beam.  I thought it was cool when I was a kid...reflecting on it now...um...

I remember that one, he accidentaly drove his car through some science experiment and it combined the guy and the car.  The bad guy drove a black monster truck with tinted windows, so you never saw the driver (if there was a driver).

Sorry, I can't rember the name of the show.

I did some searching and I found it.

One of my favorites as a kid was "Pandemonium"..... where this evil sorcerer was trying to get some sort of Triangle of Power (similar to a piece of Triforce if your a Zelda nut).. anyway, he dropped it and it shattered over Tibet, where this trio of Pandas lived.... two kids into science went there, met up with the pandas (who miraculously could now talk) and started looking for the pieces to this Triangle...

The kick to this was, whenever the pandas "joined" (for lack of a better word), they formed "Papa Panda", a larger panda form that had powerful magic, which usually was more than enough to defeat the sorcerer when he showed up to wreak havoc....
