maybe, but at $108 sounds like it would be more expensive and not as suited to the application.  Looks like it only does 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768.

Ultimarc's ArcadeVGA is designed to do exactly what you want it to (output windows and mame at 15khz and reproduce most games at their true resolution). If you're gonna spend money, that's the best thing to buy.

Of course you don't *need* an ArcadeVGA to output at 15khz anyway - there's always Advancemame if you just want to use your current card. But of course some cards like advmame better than others.

That does sound like an expensive option.  What's your current graphics card?  Many of them output 15KHz flawlessly.

If you hook up the card to your arcade monitor, and the picture is either dim, or not there at all, you likely need a video amp.  You can build one, or buy one.


nb: why isn't the video amp available on the Ultimarc main site?  You have to go to ordering info to find it at all.

Lemme ask you guys this.  If I use the PC2JAMMA project, would I be able to use windows without any real problem?

If so, then I would feel comfortable with advancemame and such.  My graphics card will be a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra.

I don't think you can run Windows at 15khz without either an ArcadeVGA or a hacked driver for your regular video card.

Advmame modifies various registers on your video card to produce the 15khz. I don't think Windows will allow this. I expect it would either simply not work, cause an illegal op or Windows would crash.

Get an ArcadeVGA; it's WELL worth the money.
