Linux, keyboard "delay" prevents full speed
« on: May 24, 2004, 01:23:53 am »
Here's a curious one.

Running xmame.x11, the keyboard (both the actual ps/2 keyboard and my minipac-based CP on USB) cannot generate events fast enough to play Joust.  I'm not sure what effect it's having on other games.

In other words, I can click as fast as I want, but there's no way to flap fast enough to gain height.

The interesting thing is that if I use a gamepad, I *can* generate events fast enough.

So I'm curious--what am I missing?  I think it has to be fixable through X somehow, but I just don't know how...

That's what I'm guessing, but I'm having trouble figuring what to change.  About the only options I've seen have been the delay between pressing a key and autorepeat and the delay between autorepeat signals, neither of which sounds like it'll work.  I'll probably try them anyway at some point.
