Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.

He actually did a rather nice job documenting the process.  Sounds like it gave him some place to hide during the pregnancy mood swings.  :)

Um, I think we've found the mother of all "byo" websites with this one.

....wow. Not sure what to say exactly other than that if I were his wife I would have thought he was building her a byocoffin.

spent quite a few nights in the hole while my poor pregnant wife cowered in fear at the house. It was worth it though. I got to see lots of deer playing around and a pair of racoons

Is that dude crashwg?  ;)  He keeps referring to his "fat pregnant wife", and, I'm not sure, I couldn't see it in the pics, but I'm betting his sink was full of dirty bottles he couldn't drink out of  :D

I've gotta agree with a couple of other folks.  I thought it was interesting and funny until that redneck cracka skinned and ate the friggen snake!

One other observation.  This guy OBVIOUSLY put some time, effort, and money into this project.  Why couldn't this genius figure out to hook up a hose and submersible pump and empty the water instead of baling it out?  Guy musta traded in his "special" helmet for that outback cracka-issue hat!

I just don't get it.  Here I am, a nice guy with a good job and nice house, and I'm still single at 35.  This schmuck has a wife and child.

All this time and hard work, and all I had to do was dig a big hole in the back yard.   :P

My thoughts exactly.

Being that I live in tornado prone Oklahoma, this doesn't seem like a bad idea to me, although I think I would probably have bricked up the walls instead of leaving them bare dirt.

Watch for Stingray's next project: BYOSS (Build Your Own Storm Shelter) ;) ;) ;)

I found that the hole was very cool at night and was somehow warm at night.

I will find that Darwin's theory is correct, when this hole collapses and kills him, his sister/wife, and their offspring.

I thought only germans dug holes.

In germany they banned hole digging on the beach since the cost for the heavy machinery to level the beaches was growing out of hand. The beach would look like a lunar surface after people left. It's dangerous too; recently a german kid died on one of our beaches in a 2 meter deep hole that collapsed on him. He spent a whole weekend digging.

Wouldn't that be more appropriately put as "BOSSY" (Building Oklahoma Storm Shelters Yourself)?  ;D
