Windows 9x/XP video resolutions
« on: May 18, 2004, 06:19:51 pm »
I have a standard arcade monitor and a ATI 7000 card. I got advmame working no problem in windows 98 (dos). I would like to use XP but have given up trying to get advmame to work in XP.

I have tried using powerstrip set to the Arcade preset and just get rolling screens for 98 and XP at 640x480.

But my main question is I want to play more then mame. I would like to use ePSXe, Daphne, NES, SNES, Visual Pinball, etc. But some of them only work in windows itself and I can't get the frequency right.

I have also tried the advance cab tools and can't get them to work.

PowerStrip is a crap shoot. This is on of the reasons why the ArcadeVGA was invented.

Don't use power strip. Or Windows for that matter. I suggest installing Linux and XFree86. You can use the same modelines use made with AdvanceMAME in DOS in XFree86.

Most of the emulators you mention are available in Linux. Just use that and your pain will be gone.

Is it usually such a beeyatch to finally get the screen to center somewhat?  What a chore!
