1) What are the S and Z buttons referring to (ie: what do they do)
2) I tried to find a labelled N64 controller picture (or at least one which was pretty big so I could actually see the buttons) but I had no real luck. I did see there was an analog stick (which is for the "analog stick" mappings) and the standard flat directional pad I guess would be for the "digital" mappings, but what in the world is "C-Buttons" referring too. Is "C-Buttons" directional as well ? Please explain.
3) Also, can any combination of the Analog Stick, Digital and C-Buttons be used at the same time during gameplay. Basically I need to know which of my 4 joysticks to map to these directional controls to.....
1) I believe that the S button refers to the Start button, and I know that the Z button is another button that can be used during gameplay. They called it the Z button because it's located underneath the middle handle on the controller, acting as a trigger of sorts. Both are very important for gameplay, but the Z serves different purposes depending on the game.
2) The C buttons are also very important for gameplay, and they do very different things depending on the game. In some games, primarily the 3-D games, they act as buttons which control the camera angle. In other games, like Zelda, these are standard weapon buttons. In fighting games they serve as another type of kick/punch. Their purpose varies, again depending on the game.
3) I'm not sure I follow your last question in reference to the C buttons, but the directional and analog controls act just like they do for Dreamcast, Xbox, and PS2. Most games use the analog controls, with the direction pad seldomly being used. If you have to map a joystick to one of these controls the analog stick is the one to choose. The C buttons are just additional buttons to use during gameplay.
Hope that helps. If you have any other questions I'm happy to help.
