Where to get DWI songs
« on: May 14, 2004, 04:38:19 am »
I decided to go with DWI becuase I could find at least 4 songs over the big fat 0 that I found for stepmania, but now I want more...

So where do I find DWI songs?  I've been searching for a whole day now and have come up empty handed.

Please don't post any places that are "illegally" trading copywrited DWI songs.  Save those for the PM...  ;)
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Stepmania will accept the DWI format, BTW.

You can find a lot of original DWI song packs here, if you're not opposed to using bittorrent.

http://www.ddramerica.com/bttracker/

It has BemaniStyle's old monthly original packs, as well as the DDRei.com Tournamix packs.  Tournamix 5 is supposed to start soon, too.

Someone clue me in please - are these legal or copyright infringements?

I have no idea, Saint.  I've been trying to figure that out myself.

I'll admit the songs themselves are most likely copyright infringements (For the "official" bumper packs and probably 80+% of the "originals").  But the steps themselves are hand recreated (and refined roughly every month).  I do know that the main website that creates and hosts these, DDRUK.com has had them up for a long time and as far as I know has not been served with a C&D letter or any other form of legal threatening, and the site is one of the more popular DDR sites out there.

If you decide it's too iffy and remove it, I'll make sure to never post it again.
