Bezel Printing Idea...
« on: May 13, 2004, 03:52:14 am »
I have a Pacman machine and am in need of bezel. Of course I have the bezel artwork downloaded and everything. But, I had an idea about printing it and needed to know if it would work.

Here it goes.........

Does a regular inkjet print colors on acetate (the clear "overhead projector" plastic sheets) ?

Because if it does I would take the artwork into photoshop and take out the black and the white and print everything else. Piece the acetate onto the glass and then spray paint the white part and the black over the backside of the acetate.

I think it would look good with no seams as long as a inkjet will print colors on the stuff. I know it will black good but never tried colors.

What do you guys think? It sure would beat paying $100 for a new one at twobits.com

I don't think you will be able to read the print if you paint the back black.

Yes a regular inkjet will print on overhead sheets. We do it my lab all the time for presentations. You can get the sheets at office depot.
Experience is directly proportional to equipment ruined

Thats why I am painting it white behind the lettering. and then black on top of that.I think it will look pretty good.

Try it with a single sheet first, in case the paint chemicals interact with the ink in some way.

The paint should be on the backside of the sheet and won't come in contact with the ink.

What could I use to adhere the sheet to the glass.?

3M photo adhesive?

I think you'll have some trouble with the yellow characters and dotted detail when the black's been painted on. I'd do some test prints, and hold it right up against a black object and see whether or not the yellow (or any other color) is opaque enough.

I wonder if you could get away with printing it (with black included) twice, line them up and put a sheet of white vinyl/paper/whatever behind the whole thing.
