I just finished my Rally-X cocktail to Galaxian themed MAME conversion.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

I was going to let it go till I saw your post wanting to sell it.  Although it does look fine I think it stinks you mamed a classic just to turn around and sell it.  A rallyx cocktail is rare especially in that condition.  Would have been better if you built it to be your dream arcade game that you want to keep for years to come.  I may be alone here as rallyx is not the most popular of games but it is one of the cocktails I remember being at the Pizza Hut as a kid and so I think its sad. :'(  I suppose it could be converted back since you didn't saw it in two or anything, but I doubt that will ever happen.  I just don't see the point.  What was so enjoyable about hacking up a working original arcade game?

I have one like that, it is a Gorf, kind of gets on my nerves though, as the sticks are on the right of the button.

I know converting it was not going to be popular, but I was the only bidder on ebay for the table.  It's not like I bid against someone else who wanted it for what it was.  I also sold the PCB to someone who needed it to get a Rally-X up and running.

As far as selling it goes, I didn't plan on it.  I thought this one was a keeper, but If I can get a little more out of it than I put in I will sell it - otherwise it stays.

I priced arcadedepot and mantisamusements kits, and after buying a coin door, control panels, white plexi, etc... it would have been more expensive.  I didn't want to build one myself unless I bought a bunch of tools to do it right.  I'm sorry that my decision upsets some folks.

paigeoliver, the sticks of this one were the same way.  I bought reunion joysticks, drilled new joystick mounting holes, and enlarged the original joystick opening to swap the stick and button.

I'm with you on this one Whammoed, it just doesn't make sense.  Isn't it odd that MAME was started to preserve the playability of games, and yet it has caused the needless destruction of working cabs to scavange non-game related parts like wood and doors?  Just my thought.  Here is a standing offer to anyone out there:  Give me your working cocktail in good condition and I'll build you an empty MAME frame for you to use.
