any centipede sideart as good as Phoenix Arcade?
« on: May 10, 2004, 02:23:13 pm »
Has anybody here done a side-by-side comparison of Phoenix Arcade's centipede side art to any other company's?

Is there a company who makes the side art for them, or do they do it on their own?

Any suggestions as to equally good side art are greatly appreciated.

Everyone I've talked to that has done side art got it from them and were really happy.  I'm thinking about getting some for my centipede but I'm a little worried about applying it.

Why not just get it from phoenix?

All I know is... if anybody gets some clean centipede art, I would appreciate a bunch of closeup pics so we can vectorize it.

Yeah.... but If I don't have the files, it makes me nervous that I'll never see a final product. :)

The centipede job is a big one. Definitely one to seperate the men from the boys.

Indeed.

I'm just finishing up a Pooyan sideart piece WITH a halftone dot pattern to match the original in Illustrator. It'd be a lot easier in photoshop, but so far doing it in Illustrator is somewhat difficult. Haven't found a good plugin to do the work for me.

Trying to figure out an easy way to replicate the dot pattern, so I can use the technique on futre traces.

two ideas that are what they are (morning idea before the coffe cup) take it with caution

1) using photoshop
lock everything
create a new working sheet
create the dot pattern on this one
select all, smooth the selection
convert to trace
exprot to illustrator

1) using illustartror create by hand a grid of dots using the deplacement menu it's just a matter of a few replicates
use this one/
that's what I've proced once it's a pain, but ;)

I'll to someone, who might know if htere is a pluggin available or a technique to easily create dots with AI
I'm on the planning stage

Are those dots evenly spaced? if so you can just use a pattern fill.

It is a pattern fill.

Doing the complex halftone gradients, now that's where I'm having problems.

*Sigh* if only i had my handy PMT camera around, it would be so easy. :)

Yea, I saw that.  I heard the quality is really good, but don't really want the pink.

Arcade Shop has the right ones, but they're $125.  I wouldn't mind dropping the extra coin if my cab was done waiting for the art.  Sadly, it is not.

If the cab is done by the end of June, you can bet your ass I'll be buying from Arcade Shop!!  There's no way I'm waiting 2 months with an "almost done" cabinet.
