Calling all Aussies!
« on: May 06, 2004, 12:34:40 am »
G'Day Mates... How ya going?  :D

I'm travelling to Melbourne Australia from May 14 to May 22 to do some work for a local beer company.  And I'm wondering what Footy games are on during my visit?

As I went too a Anzac day game 2 years ago at the MCG and I was hooked. And when I was there before Christmas, it was off season.  So I have to goto a game this time.  So I'm wondering, is it easy to get tickets?  Or are the usually sold out?  When is Anzac day anyways?

Also, it would be nice to meet some local blokes when I'm down under. As I've been to Melbourne for a total of 3 months over my past 2 trips. And I've seen the pretty much all there is too see in Melbourne.  And it would be nice to have a beer some other Mamers while I'm there.  I'm staying near Flinder's Station and we could meet anywhere.

Thanks!!

Anzac day has come and gone (25th April) so you've missed out on that one.
Games at the MCG

SATURDAY MAY 15 AEST
Richmond vs Western Bulldogs
MCG 2:10 PM
Both teams aren't going so well so far

SATURDAY MAY 22 AEST
Melbourne vs Kangaroos
MCG 2:10 PM AEST  - depends on your flight
These teams are doing well and winning games so would be a good game

Otherwise you could go to Telstra Dome (also in Melbourne)

SATURDAY MAY 15 AEST
St Kilda vs Collingwood
Telstra Dome 7:10 PM AEST
St Kilda haven't lost yet (hoping they will this weekend), Collingwood has only won 1 game - should be a one sided affair

SUNDAY MAY 16 AEST
Kangaroos vs Port Adelaide
Telstra Dome 2:10 PM AEST
2 reasonable teams with good winning records - would be good

FRIDAY MAY 21 AEST
Collingwood vs Adelaide
Telstra Dome 7:40 PM AEST
Collingwood are crap - Adelaide isn't much better.  But may turn out alright as they would be on the same playing level.

afl.com.au has all the stuff you need (rounds 8 and 9)

Hopefully a Melbourne Byoac'er can get to catch up with you.  Or you could fly to the other side of the country and visit me  :P

Cheers

Maybe I'll go the Telstra dome game.  As I haven't been in the stadium yet.

Is it usually easy to get tickets?  Or are the games sold out?

Thanks for your input.

If it's a collingwood vs Richmond/Essendon?Brisbane then they'll be sold out, otherwise it's quite easy to get tickets (If you don't being stuffed around by the stadium staff).

If you wanna meet for a drink, drop me a line. Be great to see another  MAMEr. Not many out this way. Too many bloody footy heads.

And hopefully the Swans won't fold against Richmond this week.

See ya.
Now in a tasty new flavour.

Hey Boss,

I wanted to see my Tigers play, but it doesn't look it I'll be there in time on Saturday.  Maybe I'll go to the Kangaroos vs Port Adelaide game at the Telstra Dome.

Boss, I'm send you a email once I get into town.  Maybe we can meet at the Jackson Hotel right across the street from the Flinders Station entrance for a brew or 2.

Talk you to then.
