wg D9200 Issue
« on: May 05, 2004, 10:35:07 am »
Hi,

I turned on my Mame cab last night and noticed my WG D9200 was really dim, i checked the onscreen setting and noticed it was the same as before at 110, but I turned it up almost to max to get it light enough to see, but now that i do some of the games, mostly text seems slightly off/distorted,
I've been running it at 800x600, but turned it to 640x480 with the same result.  i've had the monitor for about 2 months now, but used it maybe 2 dozen times without any previous problems any ideas?

Thanks,

Chapel

Thanks

Contact the service department at Wells-Gardner (1-800-336-6630) and explain the problem.

Will do, thanks, I guess it sounds pretty serious then.

If you bought it only 2 months ago it may be under warranty. There might be a free repair kit available for certain problems. The service department would be who to talk to.

See this thread from last year. http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=10646;start=msg81305#msg81305

The original chassis in my D9200 lasted about a week. before it  had the dim gray/green screen problem.  The replacement chassis lasted a month before it developed the dim gray/green screen problem. Both times this happened at power up.  The third chassis arrived DOA. No picture, no "no signal" display, no menu. The neck glows and the chassis clicks but the screen stays dark.  The forth chassis arrived with a problem.  It has a red glow which is very evident on black or white screens. Changing the CB one value and changing it back in the factory menu gets rid of the red glow until the screen changes resolution like exiting a game or after losing the signal like when the screen saver blanks the screen.

WG sent a complete replacement monitor after this.  I have had no problems since.

4th defective D9200 on this board this month, or at least the 4th one we have heard about.

Garbage, garbage, garbage, these are garbage.

Why do people keep getting this monitor?  They aren't cheap, I know that much.  And the failure rate...

Its the ease of connecting a PC to the monitor, the availability, and the service when they do go down.

I've still yet to hear of a viable option for ease of use in Windows for comparable pricing with the supported resolutions.

Oh, but they are sooo easy to configure.  I'm a gambling man I guess.  Mine has been fine for 7 months.  *knocks wood*

As for price, they are not much more expensive than a k7400 with an ArcadeVGA.

I tough it was the only one to support 15Khz, 25 and 31Khz with auto switching to the good frequency. Am I wrong ? Are there other monitors than WG9200 that does the same thing ?
