Any of you guys ever had a mame machine that also worked witht he Killer Instinct emulator?  You could do this by using the USB interface and it should work if you just map the controls in the KI program and had everything set up.  Granted you would have to use the keyboard and mouse to switch the computer over from MAME to U64Emu but you could map your buttons right?

All that is pointless work.  You only have a few more days to wait.  :)

Howard_C:  Am I correct in thinking that I read somewhere that your new fe/utilities will allow not only launching non-commandline-driven-emulators, but also key-mapping to eg quit the emulators?

I'm really beginning to look forward to this :)

It'll do both. :)  It has about a 96% success rate.  I say that because once in a blue moon you find an emulator that won't work 100% with it.  (For example, due to a coding glitch in zinc, you can only force exit with the esc key in xp.)  Other than that it pretty much solves any launching problem.

After the release I will need other fe developers input.  I have a listgenerator that I want to make universal between the other fe's for example.  It runs off of rom verifying dat files, so it seems to be a very robust solution.

I can't get the U64 emu(s) to work on my cabinet unfortunately.  They work pretty well on my regular Win2000 workstation but when I try to run them on my cabinet (which is also running Win2000) it is very unstable and the speed is throttled way too high, which I don't know how to change (if you can) in U64Emu....anyone have a thought here?

The emulation is just bad... unfortunately there's not much you can do for it.

I don't know where I read it, but it worked for me. If you check the lock vsync box then the game speed becomes playable, even though the into movies still fly by.

Hope that helps.

It's pronounced hacker.

I got both the KI games working on my computer, but I haven't tried them in tweaked video modes yet (for an arcade monitor). I imagine if I ran at full-screen it would reset the video settings and I couldn't see it, but if I ran it in a full-screen-sized window it would work ok. May slow down, though. We'll have to see.

The first KI plays at full speed on my PIII 866MHz, but the second one is terribly choppy. However, I don't have sound in the first one. I think it may be the ROM dump or HDD image I'm using. Can anybody direct me to a good (proven) one?  ???

Besides, my MAME machine is in a KI2 cabinet so I'd like to get that game working right!!!  ;D

KI2 emulation is far from complete.  It is well documented by the emulator's author that the attract modes are all screwed up, speed is terribly inaccurate, and it crashes at certain points due to bugs.

KI1 is far more playable but still has speed issues and a inaccurate ai.

When I said before that emulation isn't finished yet I meant it, it wasn't an opinion.  :)

You can play these games (I do often) but don't expect them to run well or to be able to get through the whole game before it crashes.
