« on: April 30, 2004, 05:22:21 am »
Well, I don't know what's going on now - my monitor had a great picture (as below). I left it on for a few hours and now the 2nd picture!!! Has anyone seen this before, adjusting the knobs at back makes no difference..is this the tube on the way out?? Most frustrating!!

That vertical collapse is a problem Nanaos are well known for.

The Nanao monitor main circuit board has some pretty crappy soldering with many bad solder joints. There are a couple of 2.2 k ohm (half watt) located near the two vertical output transistor heatsinks that fail. These are usually easy to spot as they may have a discoloration on their body from overheating.

Thanks Ken - I know you're not a fan of this brand of monitor, and at this rate I'll be saving for a good ol' Wells G pretty soon! If I want to get these parts replaced, would a regular serviceman be able to source / replace without too much problem? Are these expensive parts? Many thanks
tim.

Any tv repair shop should be able to fix it. The resistors cost about 50 cents each (two go bad).
